Choose advanced signature by SMS only for the signatories who need it

For users of the DocuSign editor, you can now enable SMS code advanced signature on a per-signatory basis. A single signature request can therefore combine standard and advanced signature, depending on the level of verification required for each person.

🛠 What's changing

  • Each Signatory block now displays a checkbox: "Enable advanced signature".

  • The checkbox is unchecked by default for all signatories.

  • Each activation is independent: checking or unchecking the option for one signatory has no impact on the others.

  • The same logic applies to both internal and external signatories.

Why it's useful

  • You tailor the level of verification to the right level of risk, without imposing it on everyone.

  • You avoid unnecessary advanced signature activations for signatories who don't require it.

  • You maintain precise control in mixed circuits, whether internal, external, or both.

⚙️ How it works

  1. From your signature settings (Sign flow tab of a document), locate the "Enable advanced signature" checkbox in each Signatory block.

  2. Check it for signatories who need to verify their identity via SMS code.

  3. Leave it unchecked for signatories remaining on standard signature.

  4. Send the request: each signatory automatically follows the journey corresponding to their configuration.

Gino's tip
Before sending a multi-signatory request from the DocuSign editor, review each signatory block to make sure advanced SMS signature is enabled where it is needed — and only there.
